RGS Development specialises in energy conversion without moving parts. With their thermoelectric expertise, the company develops, manufactures and integrates innovative heat exchangers that can convert heat - up to 1500°C into electricity.
RGS Development participates in international projects to develop and build Radioisotope Power Generators (RTGs). These are generators that provide the electricity supply for long-range missions such as from the Cassini-Huygens satellite, the Galileo navigation satellites and in the Perseverance rover currently orbiting Mars.
By simplifying the technology for this type of system and making it more widely applicable, RGS contributes to enabling heat and power systems on in “deep space” - such as on the moon an on mars, but also just for here on earth.
With regard to the world's energy transition, RGS Development specialises in designing and building compact installations for supplying green heat and electricity, complementary to - never continuous - solar and wind generation. For instance, RGS is working on heat systems fuelled by biomass or - in the future - hydrogen. These systems can be extended with electricity converters so that buildings are self-sufficient even when there is no supply of electricity from sun and wind. Furthermore, RGS is working on the development of heat batteries, in which excess energy from sun and wind can be stored - and tapped again when there is a need for heat or electricity.
Both solutions add capacity and reliability to Earth's power grid. RGS Development's focus here is on compact applications for buildings or small neighbourhoods.
RGS Development's innovative technology delivers significant positive impact, both regionally and globally:
● Lower CO₂ emissions through optimal use of residual and excess heat
● Stimulating the regional economy: RGS Development's activities create jobs and economic growth in North Holland
● Sustainable energy solutions that make renewable sources more reliable
RGS Development further works closely with industrial partners and knowledge institutions in technology development. PDENH's financial support along with private investors, enables them to further scale up their valuable, innovative technology, contributing to a sustainable future.
