The MIT scheme (SME innovation stimulation top sectors) is one of the schemes with which the province of North Holland supports small and medium-sized enterprises and wants to stimulate innovation. The scheme is intended for North Holland SME entrepreneurs who are looking for financing in the initial phase of their project. Applications can be submitted from 12 April.
The province wants to accelerate the sustainability of the economy and therefore supports and stimulates sustainable innovation. The national government and the province have increased their annual contribution. The national government is making €5,454,167 available. This year, Noord-Holland is making a contribution of €4,462,500. This means that, after deduction of the implementation costs, a total of €9,520,000 is available for financing innovation projects within the SME sector.
Many entrepreneurs want to use the scheme. In 2021, subsidies were granted for 108 feasibility projects. These are diverse initiatives such as making plastic waste circular and developing a software platform that can predict the transport demand for hotels. It is expected that subsidies will soon be granted to 25 Research & Development projects.
Top sectors
Companies can apply for subsidy if they are going to carry out a feasibility project in preparation for a Research & Development project. The activities for which subsidy is requested fit within the Mission-driven Innovation and Top Sectors policy.
