The textile industry is one of the most polluting sectors worldwide. The production of textiles emits more CO2 than aviation and shipping combined. A garment consists of an average of thirty components and the manufacturing process involves an average of twelve steps from raw material to end product. The fact that textiles are produced at various locations, sometimes under appalling working conditions, contributes to the problem often remaining invisible. Making the textile industry more sustainable therefore starts with transparency.
tex.tracer works on independent verification of the textile production chain, from raw material to finished product. The company collects and analyses reliable data such as time and geolocation stamps using blockchain technology and peer feedback. Supply chain partners can upload company and product data via a web app, which is then analysed at various levels.
In addition to facilitating conscious choices in the production and purchase of clothing, tex.tracer supports its customers in complying with future laws and regulations. In addition, the workload of compliance teams is reduced and brand value is increased. Consumers are enabled to make decisions based on the QR code on the product and the online shopping widget, which allows them to follow the journey of the product.
A responsible, sustainable fashion chain starts with transparency. tex.tracer unlocks relevant information about the fashion industry's supply chain. This investment contributes to the mission to create a sustainable fashion industry, by supporting digital solutions that can increase the much-needed transparency in the fashion industry.
