Roughly 40% of our ecological footprint is related to the things we buy new. Sharing stuff with your neighbors is not only an effective way to reduce this footprint, but also creates more social connection. Moreover, it is cheaper and saves a lot of storage space, especially when it concerns things that we use at most a few times a year.
Peerby offers a flexible online peer2peer platform for borrowing and lending items in the neighborhood. Members who only want to borrow items pay a monthly fee starting at 19 euros per year. For members who also offer items, membership is free. All products via the platform are insured against damage, loss or theft. Members are screened and verified as standard.
“As the largest and best-known sharing platform for goods in the Netherlands, Peerby is an important driver of the rapidly growing sharing economy and thus also of the circular transition. We see that these innovative entrepreneurs in particular are facing other types of challenges, with an additional need for more patient capital. We want and can provide that financing,” explains Janet Nieboer, CEO of ROM InWest.”
