The building task in North Holland is huge. And given the lack of space and raw materials, what we build has to be good right away: circular, digitally as innovative as possible and without waste. That is where DigiC comes in handy. The programme brings innovative entrepreneurs together with large construction companies, municipalities and the province. The aim: to use digitalisation as an accelerator of sustainable and circular construction.

New opportunity for our region

“ROM Utrecht has started DigiC in 2023, focusing on digitalisation as an accelerator of circular and sustainable construction. Now ROM InWest is also bringing DigiC to North Holland,” says Birgitta Kramer, Senior Business Developer at ROM InWest. “Entrepreneurs who participated there won contracts they might otherwise never have gotten. Some innovative companies from Amsterdam, Almere and Alkmaar also joined in. This raised the question: why don't we do this ROM-wide?”

What participating in DigiC will get you

DigiC is for entrepreneurs working on circular and digital solutions in the construction sector. Think startups with new technologies or scale-ups with fresh ideas for the construction sector. “DigiC is a do-programme,” says Birgitta. “We bring together innovative entrepreneurs and large construction companies and immediately start working together. This leads to concrete results. Smarter and faster construction, less waste of raw materials and less inconvenience to the environment.” Entrepreneurs within the DigiC programme can test their innovations directly in practice, and thus also win new contracts. Birgitta: “I see it as my mission to bring innovations to the market. Through DigiC, we can give entrepreneurs access to assignments, partners and funding. It is the place where ideas become reality.”

Building and expanding your network

The collaborations created at DigiC give energy. Birgitta: “You really notice this, for example, during the DigiC market innovation days. During these days, builders and innovative entrepreneurs tackle concrete challenges in the market. For example, about circular renovation with a limited CO2 budget. We bring inspiring stories from practice,they are intellectually challenged: on, for example, making social property sustainable with the help of AI. Entrepreneurs meet during matchmaking, exchange knowledge and win contracts. They contribute to a strong construction ecosystem, in which entrepreneurs large and small work together. The energy released then: that makes me incredibly proud.”

Concrete results

What entrepreneurs already realised through DigiC:
- Planalogic (Amsterdam): digital home designs that minimise waste;
- Packhunt (Amsterdam); First time right design of area development
- BIM Projects (Alkmaar): smart BIM models that make maintenance predictable and efficient;

Your innovation implemented at scale

Being able to apply the results immediately contributes to the innovative power, visibility and impact of the construction sector in North Holland. Together with ROM InWest, DigiC can also guide companies in their growth and further financing. Birgitta: “For me, DigiC is successful when entrepreneurs can implement their innovations at scale. That's where the impact is for our region.”
