about ROM Inwest

At ROM InWest we are committed to a sustainable and robust North Holland economy, which offers equal opportunities to everyone. To achieve this, we focus on game changers: ambitious start-ups and scale-ups and SMEs that are able to accelerate the food transition, the energy transition, the healthcare transition and/or the transition to a circular economy with their innovations.

Our vision

We believe that innovative entrepreneurs are crucial to making the North Holland economy robust and sustainable, with equal opportunities for everyone – both for the world of tomorrow and for the generations after us. We are convinced that these entrepreneurs will improve if they receive support during all phases of life. Because consistent support leads to better strategic choices and therefore to consistent growth. The latter is a key condition for success.

What
we do

Entrepreneurs can come to us for all aspects of innovative entrepreneurship and every phase of their company's life. Our services consist of roughly three core tasks.

Innovate

We do this to ROM InWest creates favourable conditions for innovation by connecting entrepreneurs with each other and with knowledge institutions and governments so that they can jointly build innovative, entrepreneurial and sustainable ecosystems in a structured manner. With tailored business development, we support innovative entrepreneurs in developing their business plans and making their innovations financeable.

Invest

In helping to find financing, we help startups, scale-ups and innovative SMEs to get off the ground and grow further. To this end, we work together with various partners, such as incubators, accelerators and venture capitalists (VCs) and various financial institutions. ROM InWest's investments come from two of the three funds that we manage. The SME Fund, with a size of €60.7 million, offers financing for innovative companies in the broadest sense. The Transition Fund has a target capital of €100 million and is aimed at stimulating the important transitions of our time.

Implementation of government regulations

Supporting companies from government schemes, such as the MIT and the COL, is an important core activity of ROM InWest. In this way, we unlock opportunities that arise from this for entrepreneurs in our region. In 2023, we supported the Province of North Holland for the second year in the implementation of the SME Innovation Stimulation Region and Top Sectors Feasibility (the components MIT Feasibility and MIT R&D). We will continue this support in 2024.
