What does your position at ROM InWest entail?
“As a business developer, I speak to entrepreneurs every day who are accelerating the energy transition with their innovations. I act as a sounding board and actively think along about their (financing) strategy, market positioning, required knowledge and network – with the aim of removing bottlenecks and growing the company. Through the conversations with individual entrepreneurs, I get a good picture of the ecosystem and the structural barriers, which I try to solve together with our partners. The funny thing is that in this job I often speak to the same entrepreneurs as in my previous job. That also gives my work a fun, personal touch.”
What do you think of the atmosphere and culture at ROM InWest?
“Because we haven’t been around that long, our team is manageable and everyone knows each other. I find the atmosphere in the office relaxed. There is plenty of laughter, but at the same time everyone is serious about their work. I would describe my colleagues – just like myself – as investigative and enterprising: we naturally think in opportunities and always dare to propose or propose an idea. challenge. I also find that ROM InWest is characterised by the fact that you are given a lot of trust and freedom. Because our organisation has only existed for two years, you have to dare to take initiative and like to tackle things.”
How do you make a social impact with your work?
“When supporting entrepreneurs, I ask challenging, critical questions, intended to provide new insights or tools for their next steps. Think of (additional) market research, joining a consortium, sharpening the business plan or using government regulations. The impact of my work therefore lies in those next steps and in their contribution to the growth of their company. Because ultimately, the accelerated scaling up of green companies drives the energy transition On."
What makes you most proud of your work?
In coaching entrepreneurs, I try to hold up a mirror to entrepreneurs and guide them. It makes me proud when that direction proves itself, for example because market research provides insights that ultimately make a company more successful. I also always share in the pride of an entrepreneur as soon as his or her company is successful.”
