In addition to investments, there are also subsidy schemes that you may be eligible for. We would therefore like to highlight the possibilities for you. We recently conducted research into subsidies specifically for smart energy hubs. You can recognise these subsidies below by the green label.
Have you developed an innovative technique with which your company can save energy or reduce CO2 emissions in the Netherlands? Then you can apply for the DEI+ subsidy for the pilot or demonstration of this technique. Before you submit the application, you can receive advice on your project idea and have it tested. This increases the chances of your project succeeding.
Are you, together with other entrepreneurs and the municipality, making plans for an energy hub or investigating whether an energy hub is possible and desirable? Then you can apply for a subsidy from the province of North Holland for this preparation and design phase. With this scheme, the province wants to stimulate the development of energy hubs and thus reduce grid congestion.
Would you like to collaborate with other parties in a consortium on innovative solutions that contribute to climate goals for electricity, buildings, industry, or biobased circularity? And do you focus on practical application, taking into account technical, social, and other factors that increase the chance of success? Then apply for a subsidy with the MOOI scheme. Good to know: for the MOOI: Electricity subsidy, you must submit a preliminary application between 17 March and 16 April 2026.
The production, storage, transport, and application of sustainable hydrogen can offer flexibility around electricity and hydrogen grid hubs, thereby helping to reduce grid congestion. For this reason, the province of Noord-Holland is keen to actively stimulate the hydrogen economy. If you are involved in a sustainable hydrogen project (production, storage, transport, or application of sustainable hydrogen), please do check if you are eligible for this subsidy.
This subsidy is intended for the sustainability, restructuring, energy transition, and quality improvement of industrial estates and port areas in North Holland. Via the solar panel fund, you can, for example, receive support for collective solar projects on large industrial roofs/facades (>15kWp) and grid congestion-neutral or grid congestion-reducing batteries, which directly contributes to relieving the electricity grid on industrial estates. The subsidy can be provided to municipalities and port companies.
The SME Fund is relevant for you if you have incurred costs with your startup, scale-up or SME for a patent application to protect your intellectual property rights. With a so-called SME voucher you can submit a claim for a refund of part of those costs.
The government wants to accelerate the construction and expansion of publicly accessible charging sites for heavy electric transport. Are you working on a charging site accessible to all? Then check whether your project is eligible for subsidy for the costs incurred. If within two years the contracted power is insufficient to supply the power of your charging infrastructure at the charging location, you can also apply for a subsidy for a stationary battery.
Do you want to install charging infrastructure for your company's electric work or company vehicles? Then consider the Subsidy Scheme for Private Charging Infrastructure at Companies (SPRILA). This scheme helps companies invest in private charging points with AC or DC charging stations and stationary batteries. This concerns charging infrastructure that may only be used at certain times by a specific group of users.
The Energy Investment Allowance applies to investments that yield significant energy savings. With this, the government wants to provide a strong incentive for energy saving, CO2 reduction, and sustainable economic growth. As an entrepreneur, are you investing in energy-efficient assets and/or sustainable energy technologies listed on the Energy List? Then you can use the EIA and deduct 40% of the investment costs from your taxable profit.
Hydrogen is becoming an increasingly mature alternative to fossil fuels. Does your company, which has a special focus on heavy logistics transport, want to switch to driving on hydrogen or develop a hydrogen refuelling station? Then the Hydrogen in Mobility (SWIM) grant scheme is relevant for you! This grant is open for applications from 1 April to 13 May, with a total budget of €45 million.
Is your SME company working with other SMEs or researchers to make industry more sustainable? Then apply for a grant with the Energy & Climate Research and Development (EKOO) Industry scheme. The maximum grant per project is €500,000. For this grant, you must meet the general conditions that apply to all Top Sector Energy schemes. This is a tender: the highest-scoring applications receive grants until the budget is exhausted.
Is your SME working with other SMEs or researchers to produce biopolyesters based on bio-based carbohydrate-rich feedstocks? Then apply for a grant with the Energy & Climate Research and Development (EKOO) Biobased Circular scheme. The maximum grant per project is €500,000. For this grant, you must meet the general conditions that apply to all Top Sector Energy schemes. This is a tender: the highest-scoring applications receive funding until the budget runs out.
Is your innovation contributing to large-scale renewable energy generation or reducing CO2 emissions? Then the Sustainable Energy Production and Climate Transition Incentive (SDE++) may be of interest to you. The amount of this subsidy depends on the market price and the actual amount of renewable energy you generate or the effective CO2 savings you achieve. SDE++ opens on 22 September: prepare your application in advance!

The Flex-e subsidises flex scans, feasibility studies and flexibility measures to help businesses and institutions consume energy more flexibly. Flexible energy consumption creates more room for electricity usage within the existing connection, enabling more businesses to start, grow or become more sustainable. Good to know: subsidy applications are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. So the sooner you apply, the greater your chance of receiving a subsidy. New application round expected in May 2026.

The province of Noord-Holland is reopening the subsidy scheme Smart Solutions for Grid Congestion (UVR SON). From 11 February to 1 October 2025, entrepreneurs can apply for a subsidy to gain insight into their electricity consumption. This helps them to save energy and spread their consumption more intelligently over the day. The subsidy amounts to a maximum of €15,000 per company, with a total budget of €500,000.
To take meaningful steps to save energy or spread it better over time, you first need to gain insight into your company's electricity consumption. With this subsidy, the province will help you with the costs of purchasing smart metering and monitoring equipment, external expertise, configuring the associated software, and project-related licence and/or subscription fees. The ultimate goal, of course, is to reduce grid congestion in North Holland. This subsidy scheme is being evaluated. It is not yet known if it will return in 2026 and in what form.
