Future-proof building ATB

Acceleration programme Future-proof building (ATB)

Smart innovations in construction and infrastructure are vital to keep the Netherlands liveable. Are you active in biobased and/or circular construction or data-driven management and maintenance of infrastructure with your startup or scale-up? And are you looking for the right growth path for your company? Then the Acceleration Program Future-proof Construction (ATB) is ideal for you.

Innovative entrepreneurs like you are vital to the sustainable construction and infrastructure that the government strives for and increasingly demands. To help you develop your solution, the national program Future-proof Living Environment has therefore set up the ATB together with a number of other ROMs (Regional Development Companies) - including ROM InWest.

Personal guidance from experts

At the ATB, as a startup, you will receive personal guidance for approximately ten weeks from an experienced expert who works at NOM, ROM InWest, Horizon or ROM Utrecht Region. He or she will make you think even more about the added value of your idea for the market, using critical questions and assignments. Group sessions with other entrepreneurs are also part of the ATB. At the end of the program, you will have a crystal-clear picture of your precise target group and how your innovation is a solution for it.

Customer focus and consistent growth

“Customer-oriented entrepreneurship is the central theme of the ATB,” says senior business developer Birgitta Kramer of ROM InWest. “Many entrepreneurs in construction and infrastructure also present their technological or circular innovation as the solution, without really understanding the underlying problem and how their customer experiences it. In the ATB, we help them to zoom out and investigate whether and how their innovation is a solution for their chosen market segment. Step by step, we collect data about the customer, market demand and sales strategy. That helps your company grow consistently. A proactive and open attitude is important to get the most out of this program. The mirror we hold up to you can be confronting, but it will certainly help you achieve solid growth in the long term.”

Choice of two programs
Organization and partners

The programme is organised by the regional development companies NOM, ROM InWest, Horizon Flevoland and ROM Utrecht Region, and is part of the National Growth Fund for a Future-Proof Living Environment. Some 150 organisations work together on the future of Dutch construction and infrastructure. The results of the programme are shared with them.
