The Amsterdam-based United Repair Centre aims to encourage clothing brands and consumers to repair clothing as an attractive alternative to buying new, in order to extend the life of the garment and reduce CO2-footprint. In addition, the United Repair Centre has the ambition to guide as many people as possible with a distance to the labor market to work.
Brands that join the United Repair Centre, including pioneers like Patagonia, implement the repair service in their business model. United Repair Centre also wants to increase consumer awareness under the motto 'repair is the new cool'.
United Repair Centre will create more than 100 jobs for people with a distance to the labour market in the coming years. Among other things, through the training programme 'United Repair Centre Academy' that was set up in collaboration with House of Denim to train people with a distance to the labour market to become certified clothing makers.
