Driven by the protein transition, the global demand for products based on microalgae is growing rapidly. Food supplements, cosmetics and animal feed (aquaculture) are currently the main applications of microalgae.
Lgem produces and rents photobioreactors (also known as photobioreactors, or PBRs) for the cultivation of microalgae on an industrial scale and for a variety of commercial applications. The company's portfolio consists of sixty percent of customers and prospects who (will) produce food-related products based on microalgae.
“ROM InWest is taking a stake in Lgem because the company, with its photobioreactors, can be a catalyst for innovative applications of microalgae for more sustainable and healthy products,” explains Janet Nieboer, CEO of ROM InWest. “Thanks to their technological solutions and knowledge of algae cultivation, they are uniquely positioned to make the global food supply, aquaculture, animal feed, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries healthier and more sustainable quickly and on a large scale.”
