PERISCOPE® works with data already in the EPD (electric patient record). This is the digital file in which healthcare providers keep your medical data. Think of complaints, diagnoses, medication, allergies, results, letters and operation reports. Hospitals use systems such as Epic, ChipSoft/HiX or Oracle Cerner for this purpose. PERISCOPE® uses the data from these systems to calculate in real time a personal risk figure for complications after surgery. When that risk rises, the system alerts the healthcare team and immediately provides concrete action options. For example, additional check-ups, additional diagnostics, adjustment of medication or aftercare. This allows earlier intervention and reduces the risk of complications.
