80% of the world is facing persistent water scarcity and drought. This percentage is expected to increase due to climate change and global warming. 70% of the world’s available freshwater is used for agriculture and this percentage is also expected to increase due to increased irrigation. As water is one of the most important factors of productivity, our future food security is thus at risk.
Aguro tech develops, produces and supplies hardware (soil moisture sensors and weather stations) and software to farmers in horticulture, arable farming and open dairy farming. The soil moisture sensors and weather stations collect data that the software developed by Agurotech interprets and combines with agricultural models. The intuitive app offers farmers practical insight into the soil conditions and links this information to the weather situation and forecast. This allows them to use fertilizer and water more specifically, and thus more sustainably and efficiently, and to optimize their primary process. The system has the potential to effectively make agriculture more sustainable. Not only in the Netherlands or Europe, but all over the world.
Eand soil that is fertile, resilient and has the capacity to recover is the basis of sustainable agricultural practice. With Agurotech, soil and crops get the treatment they need. By being more conscious of the natural resources of our planet, limiting waste, reducing carbon emissions and ensuring a healthy business model for farmers, Agurotech contributes to a future-proof agricultural system.
With an investment of ROM InWest and Navus Ventures, can Agurotech taking the next step towards future-proofing the global food system.
