Waste is everywhere. Organic material, plastics, metals – huge amounts of materials end up in the incinerator or in the landfill every day. DOPS Recycling Technologies saw that things could be done differently and developed the Direct Carbon Immobilization (DCI™) technology. With this, DOPS strives for a world in which waste is no longer a problem, but a valuable source of raw materials without significant CO2 emissions. Their DCI™ technology is the breakthrough in recycling that the market has been waiting for.
With the DOPS DCI™ technique, complex waste flows and organic material are heated to 1,000 degrees Celsius in an oxygen-free reactor. This breaks down hydrocarbons into their basic elements; carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The DOPS technique makes it possible to convert more than ninety percent of the waste, which would otherwise be incinerated or dumped, into new raw materials, such as syngas, carbon (biochar or activated carbon) and other easily separable solids. Syngas plays a crucial role in the energy transition and is used as an industrial heat source and as a building block for, for example, methanol and sustainable fuels.
"The unique thing about the DOPS solution is that it can be scaled up modularly and is suitable for different waste streams. The earning potential is therefore greater and the operational risks are considerably smaller, which gives DOPS a commercial edge over its competitors."
