Innovation for a Sustainable Future

Founded in 2021, ROM InWest is the youngest of the nine regional development companies in the Netherlands. As a BV with 23 public shareholders, we focus on promoting innovative entrepreneurship that is linked to high-quality innovation. We contribute to the transition to renewable energy, a circular economy, a more sustainable food system and smart (digital) solutions for society and health. Our goal: a robust and fair economy and a healthy living environment.

We believe that high-quality innovation coupled with innovative entrepreneurship is the
engine has a strong competitive position and the future earning capacity of the
region.

We start from the strength of and expand on this. We do this with the
creating favorable conditions for innovation (ecosystem development). By
to bring these parties into contact with the most promising entrepreneurs in the region and
active in this area of knowledge. And then by providing these entrepreneurs with targeted and
consistent support to support them at every stage of their development (with
tailored business development (venture building) and financing solutions
(investing) tailored). Based on the available potential and entrepreneurship, we want
accelerate the transition to a sustainable and robust economy.

With what money
we invest

ROM InWest invests mainly from the SME Fund and the Transition Fund in companies. Our total investment budget varies from year to year, as does the distribution between the two sources of money. The SME Fund is intended for growing SME companies that work on innovations in general, while the Transition Fund is specifically aimed at entrepreneurs who contribute to the energy transition, the food transition and the transition to a circular economy.

Where and how much impact we make as ROM InWest depends entirely on the companies and entrepreneurs we support. Your innovations make the difference. Our compass for our ultimate impact are the so-called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the seventeen goals to make the world a better place in 2030. For example, with regard to poverty, education and the climate.
