In addition to all the guaranteed honor, attention and recognition, there is a lot at stake in February for the four companies (Augmedit, Kepler Vision Technologies, Layco and Ellogon.AI) that participate in the preliminary round of the Healthcare Innovation Award. Because, whoever goes through to the final, will receive a year of free membership of the<\/span>Network Council of Amsterdam Economic Board<\/span><\/a>, wins two tickets for Innovation for Health. And can pitch his innovation during the final on March 21 at the Health Valley Event. Compelling and scalable business models<\/span><\/b><\/h5>\n

\u201cScale-up companies in the healthcare sector in particular benefit greatly from a good network and visibility. Healthcare is a difficult market to gain access to,\u201d says senior business developer Linze Rijswijk. On behalf of ROM InWest, he is part of the regional organization Zorg2025 of the Healthcare Innovation Award 2024. \u201cTogether with Amsterdam Economic Board, Sigra, Rabobank and Amsterdam AI, we had the difficult task of selecting the best from the 25 entries from North Holland. The four nominated companies have in common that they are innovative, have a convincing and scalable business model and can make a big impact in healthcare.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The four nominees for the healthcare innovation award preliminary round on February 13 are:<\/span><\/h5>\n

  1. Lumi by Augmedit: faster and better surgeries with 3D hologram<\/span><\/b>\n

    Operating on the basis of 2D imaging technology has been the standard for lab personnel, researchers and doctors for years. Unfortunately, it is also relatively complicated, inefficient and not always effective, because this technology still leaves a lot of room for error. The Augmedit system (called 'Lumi') converts existing 2D scans in its own cloud environment into a 3D hologram, which can be studied much better. This healthcare innovation leads to better and more efficient care and lower healthcare costs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n

  2. Kepler Night Nurse: Better elderly care thanks to smart fall prevention and detection<\/span><\/b>
    \nThe already extreme staff shortage in healthcare will increase by another 25% in the next five years, while the demand for care is only increasing due to the ageing population. Far-reaching automation is crucial to relieve the burden on healthcare. With the existing, often outdated sensors in nursing homes, care staff often only arrive on site after five minutes if a client falls out of a chair or bed. In addition, notifications are often false alarms, for example by a client accidentally pressing the alarm button. The smart sensor of Kepler Night Nurse sends a notification within 10 seconds of a fall and prevents accidents by very precisely detecting the movements of patients - for example getting up from a chair or sitting on the edge of the bed. This means that staff arrives on site sooner and the number of false alarms with 99% decreases.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Vela\u00ae: more accessible and sustainable obstetric care worldwide<\/span><\/b>
    \nVela\u00ae from LAYCO is a reusable vacuum extractor that makes care around childbirth more sustainable and accessible for mother and child. With Vela\u00ae, approximately 40% CO2-eq emissions and 98% waste can be saved compared to the disposable version. By offering the product for a normal price in high-income countries, the price in low- and middle-income countries can be reduced. Furthermore, hospitals in rural areas become less dependent on the often expensive and unreliable supply chain due to the reusable nature. This innovation leads to more accessible obstetric care worldwide and reduces the impact of the healthcare sector on the environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. EIDOS<\/span><\/b>TM<\/span><\/b>: better patient selection for more effective immunotherapy<\/span><\/b>
    \nEIDOS<\/span>TM<\/span> from the company Ellogon.AI is an AI-based solution that helps <\/span>to <\/span>to select cancer patients who will benefit from <\/span>immunotherapy, a relatively new treatment method for cancer. Results are currently lacking in approximately 30% of patients receiving immunotherapy, while the therapy would probably be beneficial in approximately 15% of non-selected patients. <\/span>With EIDOS<\/span>TM<\/span> Immunotherapy can be used in a more targeted manner and cancer care in a broad sense remains available and affordable for everyone.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
